Painting Guide: Paint Colors That Hide Dirt Better

Okay, let’s face it. Some of us have children running up and down our homes, and sometimes we need a wall paint color that is capable of hiding the little messes our kids create, right? How many times have you witnessed the occasions of muddy fingers being plastered all over the white walls, or Crayola markers making a canvas out of your walls because your kids were feeling artistic that day? It has happened to me far too many times to count, and so I thought I would share my secret with you today.

My secret weapon against hiding dirt and imperfections on my wall, is finding the proper paint color. It may sound odd at first, but really, it is true! I learned that when I opted for lighter colors on my walls, the imperfections would just jump out at me, they were so noticeable that at often times I was embarrassed to even have people over.
I think if you still want yellows, reds and oranges on your walls because well, that is your favorite color scheme, it still is a possibility. You just have to pick paint colors that are on the stronger side of those specific shades. Deep red and a spicy orange are still good at disguising imperfections here and there and they are not boring at all.
Remember that there are specific stain resistant paints and washable ones too. Meaning if you really desire a low shade color, you can still get it; just make sure it is washable. There are matte options and high gloss finishes that will help you eliminate the possibilities of dirt penetrating the paint.
At first I opted for a burnt red to decorate my living room, but then I decided I wanted something lighter regardless of my kids and their artistic abilities. All I did was get a gray based color and had the painters seal it with a high gloss finish. Until this day, my walls look amazing.
